ASI Northwest

March 07, 2019

Committed Seventh-day Adventist members and organizations, many of them connected with ASI (Adventist Laymen's Services and Industries) Northwest, are meeting needs around the world. These pages illustrate just a few examples. There are many more.

Love Heals Free Clinic

Organizes and conducts two-day, community-centered events throughout the Northwest and beyond with free dental, medical and vision services. Love Heals has provided more than $3 million of services to nearly 7,000 patients at six locations since 2017. The next event is in Walla Walla, Washington, April 18–19. Learn more at lovehealsfreeclinic.org.

International Children’s Care

Dedicated to the care, education and spiritual growth of orphaned and vulnerable children in underdeveloped countries. There are 38 ICC homes in 13 countries, providing full-time care for 413 children — even through college. ICC provides nearly half a million meals for children each year. Learn more at forhiskids.org.

Search for One

Provides free medical, dental, educational and developmental help to the underprivileged people of the Kirabati island group in Micronesia. Professional medical and dental help for the population of 100,000 is difficult for the average person without the infusion of these Adventist volunteer efforts. Learn more at searchforone.org.

Gospel Outreach

Staffed completely by volunteers, it seeks to extend the international ministry of the Seventh-day Adventist Church to unreached areas of the world, with a special emphasis on the 10/40 Window. It sponsors more than 2,000 local Bible workers in more than 50 countries around the globe. Learn more at goaim1.org.

Young Disciple Ministries

Provides resources, training and life experiences to encourage young people to be lifelong disciples of Christ. It produces a weekly magazine, an annual mission experience and opportunities for youth evangelism. With a worldwide influence, including the United Kingdom, Europe, India, Africa, Australia and in the United States, it sent out more than 1 million youth Bible studies in 2018. Learn more at youngdisciple.org.

Lightbearers

Publishes and ships between 30 and 50 million publications every year in the local languages of the most needy and receptive people around the world. Current plans this year are to ship 16 20-foot containers of literature to Guatemala, South Africa, Zambia, Swaziland, India, Rwanda, Tanzania, Dominican Republic, Kenya, Congo, Chad and Cameroon. The upcoming Lightbearers Convocation is July 2–6, 2019. Learn more at lightbearers.org.

Water for Life

Uses a combination of water technologies, water health education and basic research to help communities in Guatemala identify and solve water issues. Depending on donations of skill and equipment, they have more requests for help than they can currently fill. Each year, Shine 104.7 FM based in Spokane, Washington, helps raise funds for this ministry. Learn more at h2oforlife.org.

Caring Hands Worldwide

Seeks to relieve suffering of those experiencing dental pain, combining these efforts with literature evangelism, Vacation Bible School ministries and prayer where and when appropriate. It has served nearly 50,000 people since it began in 2007 and provided $10 million in free dental services throughout Zambia, Madagascar, Mongolia, Micronesia and the Pacific Northwest. Learn more at caringhandsworldwide.org.

Mara Vision

Provides practical support for the Maasai and Samuru people of Kenya by sponsoring pastors and teachers, building churches, establishing water systems, providing sheep for widows, and offering school uniforms and scholarships for needy children. Mara Vision teachers, working in government schools, are reaching more than 3,000 students a day with Christian values and principles. Learn more at maravisionoutreach.org.
