On May 6, the Farmington (Wash.) Adventist Church opened its doors to five surrounding communities for a National Day of Prayer service. Area pastors and community members gathered to pray for the seven seats of power across the nation.
Government, business, education, churches, family, military and media were represented by various members of several communities in the surrounding area. Participating communities around Farmington were Tekoa, Wash.; Garfield, Wash.; Oakesdale, Wash; and Rosalia, Wash.
A number of local pastors and teachers participated in the service and offered prayer for their respective groups. Upper Columbia Academy’s Choraliers, directed by Curtis Anderson, sang several songs during the service. The young people’s enthusiasm and talent added a special note to the event. Following the service, Farmington church members served refreshments.
Participants included Hal Whitman, Tekoa Community Church pastor; James Kilmer, Farmington church pastor, retired; Sam Rapp, Tekoa Community Church member; Dean Walker, Garfield Christian Church pastor and Moscow High School math teacher; Kelly Conklin, Garfield Community Church pastor; Tom Dahl, First Baptist Church (Oakesdale) pastor; Roger Martin, Farmington Adventist Church pastor; and Larry Schroetlin, Farmington Adventist Church head elder.
