NPUC Membership Tops 100,000

Membership in the North Pacific Union Conference (NPUC) has topped 100,000 for the first time, according to official reports issued June 30. The union had 5,600 members when it was originally formed in 1906.

Divided among the six local conferences within the NPUC, the 100,210 members are located as follows:

  • Alaska ... 3,867
  • Idaho ... 6,700
  • Montana ... 4,035
  • Oregon ... 36,129
  • Upper Columbia ... 26,573
  • Washington ... 22,906

It is interesting also to note where Adventist members are located across the North American Division, as depicted in the figures below (rounded to nearest 1,000).

  • Atlantic Union ... 116,000
  • Canadian Union ... 68,000
  • Columbia Union ... 144,000 (yes, really)
  • Lake Union ... 87,000
  • Mid-America Union ... 68,000
  • North Pacific Union ... 100,000
  • Pacific Union ... 225,000
  • Southern Union ... 281,000
  • Southwestern Union ... 112,000
  • Guam-Micronesia ... 5,000 

Additional information regarding the North Pacific Union Conference will be presented in the September issue of the Gleaner as part of the quinquennial constituency report. The constituency session is scheduled for September 25, 2016.

The Gleaner is a gathering place with news and inspiration for Seventh-day Adventist members and friends throughout the northwestern United States. It is an important communication channel for the North Pacific Union Conference — the regional church support headquarters for Adventist ministry throughout Alaska, Idaho, Montana, Oregon and Washington. The original printed Gleaner was first published in 1906, and has since expanded to a full magazine with a monthly circulation of more than 40,000. Through its extended online and social media presence, the Gleaner also provides valuable content and connections for interested individuals around the world.
