Personal Invitation Leads to Baptism

By Larry Scofield, July 22, 2017

Jewel Miner was baptized into Oregon's Falls City Church on Sabbath, June 24, 2017, during the worship service.

Miner’s connection with the Adventist Church began about two years ago with her 91-year old neighbor, Ben Jackson, who visited her occasionally. He invited her to church.

At church Miner met Pat Biro, the part-time Bible Worker for Falls City. Biro asked if Miner would like to study the Bible, and so the Bible lessons began. At the completion of her bible lessons, Miner asked to be baptized.

Miner has recently moved to Astoria, Ore., and will transfer her membership there. She says the Falls City Church family was her family that she needed during a difficult time in her life.

A highlight of Miner's baptism came when Doug and Deana Woodruff sang a special song, “I Went Down to the River Today," which Doug Woodruff wrote.
