Women’s Ministries Participates in Portland Women’s Expo

By Terrie Leen-Griebel, September 30, 2018

Oregon Conference women’s ministries participated for the third year at the Portland Women’s Expo held at the Oregon Convention Center in Portland, Ore.

Portland Women’s Expo is sponsored by the Portland Women’s Resource Initiative (PWRI), which is a nonprofit organization. The ultimate goal of PWRI is to build a resource center for women to help them gain resources to successfully sustain themselves and their families.

Women’s ministries gave away more than 400 copies of Step to Christ, Living a Long and Beautiful Life, domestic violence pamphlets and Bibles.

“It was a joy and privilege to be a part of the Women’s Expo event," says Jan Bishop, who helped run the booth. "We met several hundred women who were more than interested and wanted to know more about God.  We encountered Adventist women who had left the church; however, they stillreached out to us and thanks us for being present at the expo event."

“Every year I ponder on what type of responses our booth might receive," says Pamela Lewis, another booth staffer. "Many women shared testimonies, and a few kept silent, only to speak with their eyes — revealing a gentle heart of gratitude — while reaching for Steps to Christ and/or the domestic violence pamphlets. Some women welcomed the instant prayers.”
