The North Pacific Union is pleased to welcome Carisa Carr to the office of education. Wednesday, August 19, 2020, the union executive committee unanimously voted to invite Carr to serve as the next associate director for early childhood education.
“I am delighted to announce this new addition to our education team,” says Dennis Plubell, NPUC vice president for education. “Carisa brings training in early childhood education, experience in leadership and a passion for ministry to God's children. She will be a blessing to our early childhood education programs across the Northwest.”
For the past three years Carr has been principal of Northwest Christian School in Puyallup, Washington. She oversaw preschool through eighth grade. Before that she served for 14 years as an elementary teacher in Rocky Mountain Conference and the Georgia-Cumberland Conference.
Carr earned a Bachelor of Science in psychology from Union College in Lincoln, Nebraska, and later completed her master's in early childhood education from East Tennessee State University. She is also a certified academic language therapist (CALT).
Carr and her husband, Craig, are the proud parents of two young adults, Cassie and Christian. The family enjoys spending time together exploring the beautiful Pacific Northwest.
Carr believes Adventist early childhood education programs provide young children the opportunity to explore God’s amazing creation. It is her goal to help educators lead children to view themselves as infinitely capable, creative and intelligent. She seeks to equip early childhood educators to help young children flourish in a developmentally balanced educational environment.
“I look forward to collaborating with educational leaders in the Northwest,” says Carr. “I want to work to provide resources and information for those teachers and schools who work with our youngest learners.”
