Highland View Christian School Joins American Legion, Civil Air Patrol to Host Veterans Day

By Donna Bacon, January 04, 2021

Highland View Christian School was the center of Veterans Day activities in Butte, Montana.

The school’s flag had become worn and needed replacing. Dave Haulman contacted the local American Legion chapter and asked if they would be willing to do a flag retirement ceremony. They heartily agreed and arranged it for Veterans Day, Nov. 11, 2020. Twelve members of the local American Legion, along with the Civil Air Patrol, participated in the ceremony.

Photographers from the Montana Standard newspaper and KXLF-TV covered the event with news coverage that went throughout southwest Montana. Rachel Crowe, student at HVCS, celebrated her 11th birthday that day and shared birthday treats with attendees. After the story appeared on the news, the school’s website received increased traffic.
