Webster Retires

By Gail Pelley, August 29, 2021

Dan Webster retired this year following his 40-year teaching career. He spent the last 24-years at Enterprise Seventh-day Adventist Christian School where twice he was awarded the Zapara Award for Excellence in Teaching.

Bonnie Bowman worked with Webster for 15 years and said, “[He had] a good rapport with his students. He maintained an orderly classroom and taught with a Christian perspective.”

The school is known for investing in the community. Before the COVID-19 pandemic, students served meals at the senior center and provided programs for the residents at Wallowa Valley Senior Living Care in Enterprise, Oregon.

During Webster’s tenure, the school consistently scored one to two years higher grade levels in academic achievement on the Iowa Basic Skills Test.

The school was established in 1950 and has been educating the youth of Enterprise continually since that time.

Former student and Umpqua Bank store manager in Enterprise, Mark Piper said, “I have nothing but good to say about the man. He taught me fifth through the eighth grade. He reinforced my love for math and numbers and how much fun they can be. I wouldn’t be where I am today without him.”
