Carr Transitions to Mid-America

By Heidi Baumgartner, January 02, 2024

The North Pacific Union education team is saying farewell to Carisa Carr, who embarks on a new role effective Jan. 1, 2024 as associate director for elementary education at Mid-America Union.

Carr has been an integral part of the NPUC education team since 2020, serving as associate director for early childhood education.

“Transitions are twofold: I am saddened to leave NPUC and yet thrilled for the new opportunities awaiting me in Mid-America,” Carr said. “I carry the friendships and connections made here with me as I step into this exciting phase."

Reflecting on her Northwest education leadership contributions, Carr highlighted her focus on early education and mentorship programs: "Our early childhood educators have a profound impact on their communities, and it has been a blessing to collaborate with them and witness their positive influence firsthand.”

Keith Hallam, NPUC vice president for education, conveyed appreciation for Carr's leadership investment: “We will deeply miss Carr's unwavering dedication to our conferences and their early childhood centers. Her role in fostering excellence within our early childhood program has been invaluable."

When the need for an extra layer of mentorship support from the union level arose, Carr stepped in to coordinate mentorship programs for new teachers. This strategic initiative is aimed at supporting and retaining new educators through a combination of occasional in-person gatherings, regular Zoom calls and personalized coaching.

"Carisa's leadership in guiding our new teacher cohorts has been remarkable," Hallam said. "Her impact in creating lasting relationships and providing guidance has been immeasurable."

As Carr transitions to her new role, the NPUC education team extends heartfelt gratitude for her invaluable contributions. Her passion, expertise and unwavering commitment have left a special legacy within the Northwest educational community.
