A Gathering of Community and Creativity

By Giny Lonser, January 31, 2024

Connection is vitally important in our fragmented world and Adventist women in Anchorage found a creative way to gather in fellowship, prayer and creativity.

On Oct. 29, 2023, 23 women and their guests from Anchorage-area Adventist churches convened at the Alaska Conference boardroom for a Sunday brunch.

The event was spearheaded by Susan Low, Anchorage Northside Church women's ministry leader, and was filled with an atmosphere of positivity and encouragement. Susan opened with a devotional encouraging women to persevere in these challenging times.

The women enjoyed a potluck brunch, which was both beautiful and bountiful, followed by a creative activity in designing personalized greeting cards. The cards were constructed with many items available for other creative ideas. Teresa Jensen and Jeanie Daniel had laid out supplies and equipment for several pre-designed cards in ready-to-assemble kits.

One guest, Marianne, said, "This is the most relaxing time I’ve had in a year." Additionally, one woman requested prayer, and Jean Gobah, Alaska Conference prayer ministry director, led out in prayer for her specific request as other women joined in praying for her concern.

Many attendees expressed their delight with the soft music and friendly atmosphere as they connected with each other and shared their stories. The event concluded with many satisfied participants who appreciated the effort gone into organizing such an enjoyable occasion.
