Motorcycle Ministry Pursues a Pandemic Shift

By Bill Lusk, December 19, 2020

Every ministry, including motorcycle outreach ministry, has had to reevaluate and pivot into new forms of ministry.

The Puget Sound Chapter of the Sabbath Keepers Motorcycle Ministry is used to sharing literature and engaging in faith conversations at the Abade Swap Meeting in March, the Sky Valley Motorcycle Show in April, the Oyster Run in Anacortes, and multiple events in Edmonds, Washington, including the Edmonds Kind of Fourth parade, the Bite of Edmonds, and the Edmonds Classic Car and Motorcycle Show.

But none of these events happened in 2020 due to nonessential travel restrictions, canceled events and rides. These types of events and church visits has offered a unique way to share the gospel with the public without going out and knocking on doors, but this opportunity has vanished in the wake of the pandemic. It was disheartening, to say the least, to not be involved in "normal" ministry activities.

Chapter leaders are praying about new ministry opportunities for 2021 and beyond.

As the Washington’s phased approach to reopening business and modifying physical distancing measures come into effect, our Sabbath Keepers Motorcycle Ministry Puget Sound Chapter has discussed doing fellowship rides and perhaps witnessing as we encounter other bikers and the public. Our saddlebags will carry books and handouts, and if we can enlighten someone with God’s Word with a book, then we will do it.

A quote from The Chosen story of Christ seems appropriate: “It's not our job to feed the masses, just provide the loaves and fishes.”

Would you join in praying for the Sabbath Keepers Motorcycle Ministry as it seeks to pivot into new opportunities?
